I just recently graduated from the Cal Arts MFA program in music and integrated media. Coming out of the program, I've found myself working primarily with hacked, misused, hand built and/or home-brew electronics. Though sound and music performance have been prominent features of my work, inquiries into the culture of electronic media production and consumption are pushing my practice into the realms of two dimensional art, sculpture, video, and installation. A common thread in these works is the complete integration of the circuit into each piece. Rather than tuck the electronics inside a black box covered with knobs and buttons or some other mysterious interface, I opt to incorporate the circuit as a
functional aesthetic form.

I love sound experimentation and build all vacume tube oscillators and experimental stringed instruments as well as some rotational devices. I was a co-founder of Bastard Noise . The move to Milwaukee has been quite eventful and busy, too busy to work on sound-related stuff as I'd like. I'm still working with field recordings, both straight and processed, but I'm also getting back into microsound excavations and sampled sounds. I'm also collecting used instruments and hope to weave in more melodic textures into my work . . . Chris Schlarb's solo album is a big inspiration in that regard.
